KNIT FOR PALESTINE

A collaboration between Kamille Wenneberg and Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke.

I have designed a very simple and beginner-friendly hat. The hat is called “The charity and solidarity hat”. In the knitting pattern you can choose to knit the Palestinian flag, a watermelon or the project title KNIT FOR PALESTINE on – or completely without a symbol. This means it can be knit both with and without the message.

When you buy this knitting pattern ALL proseeds go directly to the relief work of Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke in Gaza! And when I say all I mean 100%. By supporting this project and buying the knitting pattern, you are placing yourself as part of a bigger picture. You are taking action against oppression. You are supporting children, women and civilians in Gaza with needed action aid like blankets, food, water, purchasing medicin, psychological help and tents.

Since October 2023, Mellemfolkeligt samvirke has provided action aid in Gaza through local partner organizations. Despite the Israeli blockades, they have helped over 263,000 Palestinians (updated November 2024) with vital action aid since the conflict escalated.

Many, especially young people, wish to donate money, but never get it done or might not feel that they can justify only donating 7 dollars. But many streams small…

The knitting pattern is an easy way to support charity, where you get a project back in your hands at the same time. It gives everyone the opportunity to donate a small amount - both people who don't knit at all, experienced knitters, and those who might want to try it out. The knitting pattern is translated to 9 different languages including arabic.

For me, a big part of it is also the political impact. It gives you an opportunity to carry a message every time you put on the hat. This means that you do not exclusively support directly where help is needed. But you also support by carrying and showing your empathy and support in the society you find yourself in on a daily basis.

Go make a difference today and stand with us in charity and solidarity with Palestine!
